A R250 000 contract has been awarded to financial software reseller and solutions provider JPC-Lorge to implement a Windows-based ACCPAC Advantage Series 5.2 accounting software system for Aurum Health Research, an industry-founded research company whose projects have achieved international recognition.
“The contract is a crossgrade from an internally developed software system to a standard ACCPAC financial solution that will run on a Microsoft SQL database. It includes two special modules for fixed asset management and purchasing as well as the supply of hardware,” said Lorge services manager Jaco Havenga.
“Aurum Health needs to produce financial reports on a project by project basis as each has its own budget within which costs need to be tightly controlled and separately accounted for.”
Headquartered in Marshalltown in the Johannesburg CBD, Aurum Health conducts ongoing research projects, currently focusing on tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections and occupational lung diseases.
The knowledge that Aurum Health accumulates through its scientific approach to information gathering and processing is of national and international significance. The organisation`s objective is to conduct research that will influence policy and improve public health. The switch to ACCPAC was prompted by an extension of Aurum Health`s research mandate and the expansion of its activities to the point where it required a new system that would meet its mission-critical needs in a volatile operational environment.
