Stock control and the tracking of internal costs were important issues for Lobatse Clay Works, which recently contracted the Botswana branch of southern African business and accounting software reseller and solutions provider Lorge to manage and implement an upgrade of its ACCPAC Advantage Series accounting software from version 5.1 to 5.3.
Lobatse Clay Works annually produces more than 30 million face, standard and special shape bricks as well as pavers at its plant in Lobatse, about 70km south of the Botswana capital, Gaborone.
The Windows-based ACCPAC software includes General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Book, Inventory Control and Purchase Orders.
“The Inventory Control module was most important for Lobatse Clayworks as it offers online invoicing and stock control functions that provide management with instant updates regarding sales, stock out and stock in hand over a wide variety of bricks and pavers,” says Lorge Botswana branch manager Jurgens Snyman.
“The upgraded accounting software also enables automatic tracking and updating of all internal costs, providing management with greater control of production, sales, transport and administration overheads and internal budget spending.”
Lobatse Clay Works is involved in most of Botswana`s major building and construction projects from schools, hospitals, commercial structures and government buildings, to residential housing.
