Two of the major national ACCPAC financial and business software value-added resellers, Lorge and JPC Computers, have concluded an agreement that will see the two companies merge with effect from 1 July 2004.
The respective managing directors, Errol Wills of Lorge and Colin Wolpert of JPC, say the underlying reasons for the merger are to promote growth, create the most comprehensive pool of ACCPAC system application, implementation and solution support know-how in SA and to extend the scope of value-added services and support provided to customers.
Both companies are among the longest-established ACCPAC VARs and software system and solution implementers, Lorge having operated for 18 years and JPC for 15 years. Lorge was once again awarded Premier ACCPAC Solution Provider status at the recent Best Software Insights exhibition in Orlando, Florida.
“Lorge`s differentiator has been its infrastructure and capability to take comprehensive and cost-effective support services to the customer on-site,” says Wills, while Wolpert says JPC`s strength has been in the provision of technology-driven remote support services.
Lorge`s differentiator has been its infrastructure, says Errol Wills, MD of Lorge.
The end result, they say, is a “perfect fit” for two companies that have always considered the other to be “most respected competition”. The merged company will benefit from the combined capability to provide conventional on-site services as well as remote technology-based services, the demand for both depending on individual client needs and preferences.
“For Lorge, the merged company`s capability in remote services will be of great assistance to the operation of our Botswana dealership and Zimbabwe alliance, and the enlarged pool of skills resources within the new company will add further value for clients,” says Wills.
Wolpert says JPC`s RTC (recognised training centre) status with ACCPAC International, its hardware and networking division that offers turnkey hardware, software, cabling, network infrastructure system purchase and installation services and its client care centre for Priority Support Program (PSP) clients, will complement Lorge`s well-established logistics infrastructure for on-site support.
“The new company will be able to offer customers an A to Z solution for hardware and software system requirements as well as an exceptionally fast response time – within seven minutes of receiving a support call the problem is being dealt with by skilled support staff remotely using Internet technology.”
Wills and Wolpert both stress that from the respective client viewpoints nothing changes except the name on the company documentation, but they anticipate that clients will soon begin to benefit from pooled resources and skills and a wider range of value-added services.
