Lorge wins national software contract from The Cold Chain

Lorge Press Office
[Johannesburg, 4 March 2004] National chilled and frozen products sales and distribution organisation, The Cold Chain, has awarded a R500 000 contract to ACCPAC financial software reseller and solutions provider Lorge to upgrade and centralise its accounting software and database.

Lorge will convert the accounting and financial databases at the Johannesburg head office and 12 distribution centres located throughout SA from a DOS-based ACCPAC Plus system to the latest Windows-based ACCPAC Advantage Series 5.2.

The new system will run a single data set on a centralised database and enable integration of The Cold Chain`s operational and stock control software into the ACCPAC General Ledger as well as facilitate information transfer into other business programmes such as Hyperion, word processing, report writing, spreadsheets and e-mail.

“The distribution centres will be capturing data directly into the centralised database and head office can view transactions of any of the centres at any time. The benefits of the system will be time saving, accuracy, rapid and easy access to information with centralised control and IT support,” says Lorge services manager Jaco Havenga.

The system implementation commenced in March, with project completion scheduled for The Cold Chain`s year-end.
