Lorge will develop custom-designed integration software programs that will bring stock control data directly into Aplitec`s ACCPAC system as well as automate processes such as purchase orders, order entries, electronic funds transfers and consolidations.
The system will also integrate data on stock procured outside South Africa and held in bond store overseas by Aplitec`s international procurement subsidiary, Net1 Investment Holdings, as well as stock bought from local vendors.
“The end result will be the full integration of stock control into the accounting system. Stock control will become a far more streamlined process with full reporting functionality,” said Lorge Consulting executive committee member Alexander Lamprecht.
Apart from providing South African banks and financial institutions with smart card, transaction switching and EFT systems, Aplitec is successfully conducting business in an increasing number of African countries and the Middle East, so the number of smart cards it is issuing is growing rapidly.
“The new stock control system will allow Aplitec to keep a tight rein on the millions of smart cards it has in issue, as well as other hardware required to deliver banking facilities and related products through the FTS (funds transfer system) and UEPS (universal electronic payment system) technologies the company owns,” added Lamprecht.
Herman Kotze, Group Finance Director at Aplitec, said the company`s UEPS technology delivers a low-cost payment system that can be used by people who do not have access to bank accounts and has great potential in Africa.
“With the high rate of growth that we are expecting, it is important from a management perspective that our stock control system is overhauled and fully integrated into our accounting software.”
Lorge has commenced work on the software development contract. The integration of the stock control system into the ACCPAC accounting software is due to be completed during the first quarter of 2003.
