ACCPAC financial software reseller and solutions provider Lorge has completed a R1 million integrated accounting software installation for Imperial Cargo (Imperial Warehousing & Logistics), the logistics management, warehousing and freight forwarding operation in the JSE-listed Imperial Holdings group.

Lorge account manager Andre de Jager says ACCPAC Advantage Series 5.1 Windows-based software has been installed to replace the original accounting software system at Imperial Cargo`s offices in Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth, East London and Paarl. The system is running on a fully redundant in-house ASP situated in Edenvale.

“Using an Integration Manager module we were able to ensure that the sophisticated and highly specialised logistics and operations software used by Imperial is able to fully integrate to ACCPAC. Data from the logistics and operations software is conveyed into accounts receivable for invoicing and then into the general ledger. A job costing programme for the workshops also integrates directly into ACCPAC.”

The centralised database offers a number of benefits, including rapid availability of management information at any of the office locations, accuracy, time saving and centralised control and support.

Imperial Cargo IT manager David Graham says ACCPAC has given Imperial Cargo, a growing company, scalability and stability for the roll-out of future acquisitions: “We now have the ability to add new regions or companies without major capital expenditure and can therefore drive the costs of ownership down.”

Lorge will be implementing ACCPAC Insight, an enterprise-wide reporting, budgeting and consolidation solution, in the near future to facilitate data warehousing and information extraction.
